IDEAS - Concepts and Gear Turning

Large GBA

  • Still portable so it must not be any larger then lets say a Ti-83 calculator.
  • 3.5" Backlit LCD screen to replace the small dark screen
  • A/V jacks so you can play it on a big screen.
  • Different material then wood so I can prove I can build cases out of another material. But don't expect it to be completely absent of woodgrain :) Possibly woodgrain edges and a brushed aluminum fronts and backs?
  • Flash cart built in
  • Lithium battery for 4+ hours of life
  • External port so a controller can hook up to the unit when you plug it into a TV.

Status: Grey Matter

    • 9928 outputs R-Y, B-Y, and Y signals
  • Use Vidiot schematic here.
    • U17 and U18 are LM359
  • Convert the Vidiot RGB to S-Video using a AD725
  • Atari Age thread here.

Atari SUPER MOD!

  • Get hold of an Atari 7800 French
  • Reverse engineer the RGB conversion board
    • Find a modern equivalent of the V7021 Decoder Chip
    • Possibly rebuild a whole new circuit if needed
  • Will include RGB, S-Video, and Stereo Audio
    • Stereo Audio only on Atari 7800 and 2600 due to hardware limitations
