NeoGeo MVS Console - "Rawcket Lawnchair"

6/6/2007

The NeoGeo MVS (Multi Video System) is an Arcade platform that supports a Cartridge like system, much like a NES or Atari console. However, the MVS was different in that some of the boards support 2 or more Carts. This particular MVS console was made from a MV-2F system. It features 2 cart slots, a socket bios (ease to install a Universal Bios), and on board controller connector jacks. It all started when I read a request to make a consolized MVS on the Atari Age forums. After about a week of talking out the design and price, he shipped the MVS board and other parts to make the system run without the Arcade Cabinet. Basically, he wanted a stand alone MVS console that could be used on any TV.

I don't really have any in progress pictures because my camera decided to take a battery dump that day. But I do have the final outcome of the whole endeavor.

Here you can see the cathode inverter (blue box) and the decoder board (middle right next to the inverter). The decoder board takes the RGB signals from the MVS board and converts them to S-video and Composite so you can hook it up to a modern TV.

A more broad overview of the insides. Yes, that is my poor SNESp project sitting back there. I will get around to making a case for it someday... Also, pay no attention to the messy desk...

The metal top is the original RF shielding that the MVS boards are installed with inside the Arcade Cabinet.

The back of the MVS. We got (from left to right) the power jack, light switch, S-video, Composite, Left Audio, and Right Audio.

Another shot from the front.

ShaZamm!

The 2 blue LEDs in the plexi and the White cathodes under the shielding make a nice glow effect.

Well that completes the NeoGeo MVS Home Console. If you would like a consolized MVS or have a project in mind send me an email.
